Description
Navajo silversmith Ronnie Henry is from Crown Point, New Mexico on the Navajo Reservation. He comes from a family of silversmiths.
He began his career as an apprentice silversmith in 1985, working with his father and mother, the silversmith George Henry and Nusie Henry (Belon). After spending many years training and mastering his art, he founded his own business in 2005. Ronnie has been working with jewelry for decades and is known for his contemporary silver and gold designs using traditional patterns.
Ronnie has won recognition for his work through several high-profile prizes and honors. Recently (2013) he was a winner in six categories, including Best in Category in the casting division at the Gallup Ceremonial. Ronnie is also a past board member of the Indian Arts and Crafts Association (IACA). He enjoys traveling the world and spending time with family.
This textured pendant is a fine example of his contemporary style, including the use of tufa casting in all of his work. He let the natural texture of the tufa remain over the entire piece, really emphasizing the repousse star stamp.
